Machine Room Less (MRL) Elevators
Traction technology with optimized space requirements.
MRL elevators use the principles of traction technology while eliminating the need for a conventional machine room. The traction machinery is integrated within the hoistway, generally at the top of the elevator, allowing the building to use the space above the shaft more efficiently.

Machine Room
No separate machine room is required. The machinery is accommodated within the hoistway.
Pit
A pit is still required below the lowest landing for the elevator's safety and operating components. The exact depth depends on the selected model and configuration.
Overhead
Overhead clearance is still required above the top landing for the cabin, machinery and necessary safety clearances.
Hoistway
The shaft must provide sufficient space to accommodate the MRL machinery and associated equipment.
